Nice to see some green again in Port Augusta and all the way down to Adalaide. Arriving at night in Adelaide after having a geat day at an Italien folk festival in Port Pirie we slept somewhere in the Adelaide hills, had to sleep in the car but with a great view over the citylight by night… Very nice city with lot’s of parks and only a small CBD but huge pedestrian area I spend 2 days there, had a place on caravan park and booked a trip with the indian pacific via broken hill back to sydney…
1600 km and 24 hours later i was back in Sydney but only for a very short time before i flew back via Seoul home to Germany.
Need to be in europe for a little while but will be back in oz, that’s for shure
… was only a 3 day’s trip and not very difficult but boring. Prepared with food , water, fuel and Cd’s ( like we usually did ) we had a good time. Little lizards where slowly walking over the highway while we where driving with 85 km per hour straightforward. On the 2nd day heavy wind crashed on of my poles and my tent was not very stable anymore but still ok for a calm place.
The Great Australian Bright on the right and barren dessert on the left we arived at Eucla where some cops thought that it would be a good idea to stop us like in hollywood with creaky tires and siren to perform an alcohol test with the driver ( not me ) at 9:30 am … those cops are unique and i forgot to take a picture … Driving in W.A. in general and on the Eyre Highway is very relaxing and sometimes like a spiritual experience, might be the reason why cops are keen to catch backpackers on drugs…
Nullarbor was accomplished when we arrived in Ceduna.
Perth was beautiful indead, kings park, botanic garden, wild flowers and black swans… Had a nice day in Fremantle too, gorgeous little town with old buildings and open minded people a nice museum and lots of small cafe’s but i missed the life on the road with not traffic lights, shopping mals and annoying cops ( wild camping is not easy in the city
After leaving Perth, we went to Albany and i had my first encounter with the southern ocean ( was not that cold, about 16,5 degree celcius ). having a nice trip from there to Walpole just an 1 hour drive to the west we arrived at the Valley of the Giants, to walk through an old forest with tree’s 40 meter high while the brigde i was walking on starts to swing in the wind. After some walking we went on back to Albany and later to Esperance. I spend two day’s there to watch Sammy the sea lion while he was waiting for some pieces of fish or squid to be thrown from the tanker jetty by some lucky fisher men. Did not catch anything but my mate did, so we had a nice dinner after all.
But it was time to go.
it toke me a while to come down to the south but it was worth it! had some beautiful days at cape range national park / ningaloo reef while i was snorkeling and diving with tutles, sharks and rays and had the chance to feed dolphins and tiger sharks at shark bay…western australia is my favourit so far! will add some pictures as soon as i have some more time… only 13 days before i am heading back to german land which makes me a bit pathetic i guess.
anyway, oz is a good place to make holiday and there are some more adventures to come on my long way back to sydney but now i am enjoying perth over the weekend, it’s a beautiful city !
